Equality and Diversity matters

Following the Equality Act 2010, the college has a duty to:

Eliminate discrimination, harassment and victimisation.

Advance equality of opportunity.

Foster good relations.

The public sector equality duty covers eight of the nine protected characteristics, which are race, disability, gender, age, sexual orientation, religion and belief, gender reassignment, pregnancy and maternity.

LGBT Month is February

What are you going to do to raise awareness of the LGBT community within your teaching and learning  this February?

I am teaching Aggression to my Adult students and I am going to take the opportunity to raise awareness of the LGBT community by looking at an article that looks at Aggression but Aggression towards the Gay community.

This is my Equality/Diversity opportunity within my class. I will raise the issue of prejudice and discrimination that this community has suffered.  But at the same time I will be teaching the students about the psychology of Aggression.

Please share your ideas with me and I will post them on this blog. Ruth.
